The Project

Parc Chlorophylle

On June 3 2002 "Parc Chorophylle" , the recreationforest in Dochamps at Manhay, officially opened its doors to the public.

It was constructed out of the remnants of an old Safari Park, in the heart of a big forest. The park is situated nearby next communities: La Roche-en-Ardenne, Erezée, the little city Durbuy just a few miles from the Baraque Fraiture. This makes the E25 the ideal road for reaching the park.

The Park of 9 hectares, unique in its kind, gives the visitor the opportunity to discover the world of the forest in an original fashion.

One of the most important attractions in the "Parc Chorophylle" is the walkingbridge where you can walk into the treetops. Children can live it up in the thematic playground adapted to the forest.

The different animations, made out of wood, theme nature and environmental heritage. Next to every animation to bilingual, wooden panels inform the visitor.

The construction of the park received its specific look, also through cooperation with several specialised artists and architects like Jean-Claude Servais and Jean-Marie Wynants who where so lenient to add their great talents to this project.
They were also inspired by existing projects in some Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon counties, that link both entertainment and pedagogic elements. A formula for a unique and original tourism.

The community of Manhay realised this project in cooperation with IDELUX, who has a big influence on the tourism in de region of Wallony. An investment of 2,1 million Euro was made possible thanks to the European Union, the Wallon Region and the province of Luxembourg.
